Here in San Diego we had a big event, and no I don’t mean we almost had rain, it was the Super Moon on June 23, 2013! The Super Moon was the closest and largest full moon of the year and the Moon’s closest encounter with Earth for all of 2013! We watched it from the top part of our garden where all the succulents and agaves are, and it made a beautiful sight.
We had out the telescope and cameras, and sketchbook, so were fully prepared to document in full the astronomical event. When I was painting it – I mostly relied on my memories of it, and the beautiful glow as it rose like the great pumpkin over the valley.
