I’m honored to be one of five artists selected for the San Diego Artist Incubator Round 2, a countywide professional development and presentation program funded, in part, by the California Arts Council.

From September through December 2026, our cohort will take five very different creative practices into five venues across San Diego County, exploring what happens when painting, dance, performance, sound, technology, installation, storytelling, and community engagement share the same space.

I’ll be presenting work from my Systems of Awareness series alongside fellow cohort artists Miki Vale / Mikiea Perkins, whose work brings together Hip Hop, theatre, music and storytelling; Miguel Galvan, a contemporary dance artist; Joe Cantrell, whose work combines sound, media, technology and installation; and Alexandra Carter, whose figurative paintings and installations explore the body, creation and transformation.

Over the course of the program, we’ll present our work with All For Logan / The Woo in Barrio Logan, San Diego Made at Factory Underground, Dear Tomorrow in Oceanside, Bread & Salt, and Gray Area / Soap Factory. Each space offers a different audience and environment, allowing the relationships between our work to change from one presentation to the next.

For me, that is particularly exciting because it connects directly to the central idea behind Systems of Awareness: relationships create something larger than the individual participants. Rather than five artists simply showing work together, I’m interested in what becomes possible between us when painting encounters movement, sound, storytelling, technology, performance, space and audience.

What we choose to see shapes the world we live in.

I’ll be sharing each exhibition, collaboration and discovery as the SDAI 2 project unfolds through December.
