Fertile Valley is inspired by the lush river corridors of the Rio Grande in the Santa Fe–Taos region, where water, soil, and light converge to create enduring pockets of abundance within the high desert. This landscape has long been shaped by flow—of the river itself, of cultivation, and of shared human and ecological stewardship.
In this painting, the valley becomes a living pollinator garden, alive with native plants, flowering rhythms, and unseen exchanges that sustain the land. Through vibrant color, flowing forms, and layered patterns, I honor the quiet labor of pollinators and the intricate relationships that allow life to flourish in balance.
The river serves as both lifeline and metaphor—mirroring the creative process as it carries ideas, influences, and inspiration across time and place. Just as pollen moves from plant to plant, creativity grows through exchange, curiosity, and connection. Fertile Valley reflects the generative power of environments—natural and creative—that are tended with care, reminding us that true abundance emerges when collaboration, nourishment, and flow are allowed to guide us.
