Eye Witness explores the boundary between observer and observed. A great eye emerges within a concentrated area of awareness, fully aware of the viewer as the desert itself seems to become conscious of our presence.
The eye represents awareness and raises a fundamental question: Who is observing whom? We often experience ourselves as separate from the natural world, looking outward at something beyond ourselves. Yet we are embedded within the same living systems we observe, continually affecting and being affected by them.
Throughout the painting, patterns, spirals, pathways, and smaller hidden eyes suggest awareness extending beyond a single point of view. Look closely and the landscape begins to reveal more than it did at first glance.
In Eye Witness, the landscape becomes both observer and observed. Perception shifts from passive seeing to mutual awareness, suggesting that consciousness may not simply be something we bring to the world, but something that arises through our relationship with it.
What we choose to see shapes the world we live in.
