During 2020 it seemed like the whole world turned upside down, and it was hard to know what was real and where to turn. I visited Catalina island for a special birthday and had a wonderful time sketching and preparing this series while there. I felt like for a short time I had escaped the crazy. While there I became interested in the Catalina Island Fox, it is a smaller version of fox than usual from having to adapt to the scarcity of resources on the island. I painted my fox to be a more traditional fox coloring however, the Catalina fox is gray.
