SouthWest Paintings

For the last 15 years I’ve gone to Santa Fe, every summer to teach painting  work shops. While I’m in Santa Fe, I see beautiful things and take pictures, I do Plein Air water colors and drawings in my sketchbooks. I take these pictures to my studio and I use them as my inspiration to create my paintings. I’m inspired mostly by the vibrant colors in the SouthWest and also the wonderful energy I feel when I’m there.

I’m in a gallery in Taos, The Ranch at Taos, where you can find my paintings on display. Some of the images are of Chimayo, the horses in Chamisa, and rural country side scenes of the winding Rio Grande.

The City of Santa Fe is fantastically inspiring. All of the old adobes, the summer time flowering gardens, and the thunder heads rising up behind the mountains. Autumn is also beautiful with the Aspens turning the mountain yellow.

One great adventure was a visit to a goat farm outside Santa Fe where I met some of the local celebrities. Santa Fe is a foody town, and the farmers market is an incredible display of beautiful food color and texture.
