Tahiti!!!! The underwater world, the
jungle vegetation and the stunning beauty of the people all inspired
me while the myths and folklore of the Tahitian islands also captured
my imagination. When I got home and started painting from my photos,
I found myself drawing and painting people for the first time outside
life drawing class in school. I began creating mythical images by drawing
the people and the foliage larger than life to show the spiritual connection
between the people, the land, and the sea. I saw the Spirits of the
island calling home the sunset, tending the vegetation and showering
the night sky with stars. In this series I was inspired by the deep
connection of spirit and land I felt in Tahiti.
